In kana there are no double vowels or double consonants.
A syllabol is always a consonant followed by a vowel. ex: BA, KU, RO, TI, NE
A word will then always start with a consonant and end with a vowel ex: DATANO
Every word equates to a number and words are categorized by their number.
Don't worry, you don't need to know the numbers to understand kana.
These categorizations show through the letters in each word.
For example:
DATO. This word is a noun. You can tell because the second letter is A.
It is also a living thing because the first letter, D, is in a range describing the living category.
If you are interested in numbers, there is a chart later on that may explain this relation ship further.
But again, the math behind it isn't essential to learning the language.
